since i am relatively less busy these days... lol
Send me your addresses at eun.hwangbo@gmail.com so i can send you a christmas card!!

Update! Nov. 27th, 2005 @ 08:02 pm
I don't know what made me check my LJ out of blue today, but I'm glad I did.
It's good to know how many of you are doing through friends page:)!
No matter how awkward it may sound after more than a year of not keeping in touch, I miss you guys. I miss everyone very, very much!!
I started writing an entry half an hour ago, hoping to make up for the 1.5 year worth of updates, but deleted everything. I can't possibly make up for that much update about my life in the time I have right now.
So, instead of blabbing about how I am graduating in less than a month but don't have a job offer yet, or how helplessly committed and in love I am right now, I just decided to keep it nice and short. Just enough for everyone to know that I am still alive, and so are my memories with you guys in my heart:)
Forgive me for being out of touch for so long, so often, but I promise I'll always get back some time to keep you guys updated:)
I don't know what e mail address or phone number everyone uses now, so please please please drop me a note with your contact @ eun.hwangbo@gmail.com! That would totally make my day:)

Miss you guys!

Lots of love,
Sylvia

Oh, look, Jun and Maria, I'm updating!
lol.. in fact I tried updating several times before this, but u kno the connection at my place in Brazil.. ^^;
Oh, yea, I'm in Brazil now:)!
All the finals and angsts are done and well-dealt-with, and I'm back in Brazil :)!
I've been here since beginning of May, and it's been treating me pretty well, secelt for the weather that's getting colder everyday.

Oh, but I must say.. I fell in love with this country when I saw a long line of Americans waiting for their finger prints and pictures to be taken, while I was walking right by them with NO line in front of me;)
Irene dahling would understand how childishly triumphant I felt as she prolly went through the same thing during her spring break and shall go through it again pretty soon, rite:)?

Oh, and I went to Zombie Zoo yesterday.
I couldn't go watch the whole thing, but I got to watch Mike's performance at the end when I went to pick up my sister:)
Oh, n' then this year's seniors(who were freshmen when we were seniors! time flies by..) asked Shack to sing, so he sang.. something I didn't know and Dancing Monkey:)!
Lol.. it was fun^^

Although I just briefly walked by the senior hall, it brought so much memories that I thought I might cry.. but instead, I found myself smiling happily :)
After all, no one cries over happy memories, rite :)?

Miss you guys more than ever!

Two exams done, two more to go!
Almost done... I'm enjoying this short break before next exam:)..
With all the free time, I've been thinking a lot these days too..

I spent two years here.
That,
is the source of the endless thread of thoughts that's occupied my whole brain for past couple of days, but hasn't quite gotten to any conclusions yet. Someone should catch my mind/thoughts and tie it up to somewhere before it goes way out of control. (which it kinda did already --;)

I'm feeling so helpless and out of place these days, and I think it's all about my moving around again. Normally, this would be the time for me to move on to another place, or for most of the ppl I met when I first got here to be gone. That's always how it's been. But I'm still here, and almost all of them are still here. It's not like there's a serious problem or anything, but I seem to think of this as a danger sign -.-;

I know how that just sounded, but nothing has successfully convinced me otherwise yet. I'm still desparately seeking a way to move on to a completely new environment in the same place among the same people.

Hmm.. I was gonna ask this a long time ago, but I kept on forgetting.

Does anyone know how Tal's doing?
She hasn't updated or written "hey all" e mails for the longest time so far..
Maria, did you hear from her recently?

I ended up registering for IOE 491 instead of CSIB 361.
It's Visual Basic.NET n' is taught by my nice 310 professor, so.. couldn't resist!
So yea. Although that's 18 credits still, I won't be graduating in 3.5 years after all :(! (unless I take summer classes, that is)

Just finished my last programming assignment of the term.
So~~~~~~ relieved:)

Man, that's all I talked about in this entry. VB..--;
I'm such a geek :P

Registration time:)!
The only time of the year when being a sophomore with junior standing actually benefits me.

I found out that if I take full load of courses, i.e. 18 credits, every semester, I would be able to graduate in 3.5 years. If not, I'll end up with the last term of senior year having only 8 or less credits.. if it's allowed at all.

That brings me to a dilemma which screwed up my record in the freshman year: GPA or early graduation?
If I learned from my experiences I should ignore the latter (even with the shame of prolly being the only full-time, international engineering student with less than 12 credits). But I think I might as well be able to do it this time.. I mean.. if I really decide to do it, why can't I, right?

So yea. Tomorrow, I'll be registering for 18 credits.
We'll see which one I drop first..--;

* IOE 333 (3) - Ergonomics
* IOE 334 (1) - Ergonomics Lab
* IOE 316 (2) - Introduction to Markov Processes
* IOE 366 (2) - Linear Statistical Models
* MSE 220 (4) - Introduction to Materials and Manufacturing
* ACC 471 (3) - Accounting Principles
* CSIB 361 (3) - International Management

Pray for me!

I wrote a long entry about how I was feeling better now and how I was able to cope with the anger against McDonald's couple of days ago, but LJ did it again. Or rather, the stupid ethernet in my dorm did it this time.
For some reason, the connection's really screwed up these days in the dorms in the Hill area.

Neways^^ So I'm feeling much better, I started eating (and taking it in with a little bit of difficulty) soups and rice porridges on Saturday:) I was lucky I got over it so quickly:)
Now, it's totally gone:)

Hmm.. I also noticed I updated three times in two days last weekend.
It seems like I write more when something bad happens.. I guess LJ's become sorta like a compensation for getting older (thus being expected not to complain so much in real life.)
But what happened to Ms. Optimism?
See.. it's kinda sad thinking that I'll read it over one lazy Sunday morning years later and think this is a reflection of my current life n' what not--;
(note to my future self: It's not. Stop reading and go look at the pictures instead.)

So yea. the point is, I'm gonna try to remember to write when I'm in a happy mood also:)
Not that you readers care, but just so u kno^^;

Back to work now:)
(This week's IOE373 assignment is the longest programming I've ever done..T.T)

Peace:)

Grumpiness )

One day, thinking it's just me with a minor sickness, was endurable.
Two days, knowing there are more people like me right now, is intolerable...

Mar. 19th, 2004 @ 01:42 pm
I have a stomache problem and am throwing up whatever I eat, whether it is a piece of bread or two sips of soup--;
I stayed at the University Health center for two hours, and when they finally let me go, they said I shouldn't eat anything for two days:( That would be three days in total.. On a happy thought, I'll lose weight:) But it'll be painful--;

Anyways. long time no update, right?
Last week was full of surprises!
What are the odds you run into two people from Graded and a summer school roommate from tenth grade in three consecutive days? lol..
I haven't even seen them in years except for Mike, whom I passed by once without noticing until later.

This week, three midterms...:(
Stayed in Media Union the whole week, only eating sandwiches and wraps and chips, n' that's when I ate the HappyMeal from McDonald's that made me, and at least 20 other people according to UHS, FOOD POISONED.
Since I took the exams at such a condition.. they won't be discussed again here for the sake of maintaining decent level of stress;;;

Right now, I'm in a lab, and I'm not understanding anything... gee.. it'll be a fun programming this week--;
*Grump alert*
oops. better go^^;
peace.

Damn you, LJ, for making the data base temporarily unavailable without notice and eating my o-very-amusing entry about my stats homework question regarding "banner-tailed kangaroo rats" and its relation to exponential distribution.

I hate you. I would've moved on to Blurt journal or Xanga months ago if you didn't happen to have my, and my beloved high school friends', entries for past three years. Take that:P

p.s - I'm copying this entry before clicking that dull "Update Journal" button, so don't you dare try to trick me twice.

...and which lesser Harry Potter character are you?

Wow, I thought I would get either Ron or Hermione!
(Yea, I am aware that they don't share much in common^^;)

Neways. New look on my journal:)!
Although not quite done with the color schemes...

Spring break Mar. 1st, 2004 @ 02:39 am
My 20th birthday was so much fun:)!

Well... not until later in the evening^^;
Got up early, n' everyone I called seemed to be doing their homework.
No surprise, since it's the end of the break, n' I myself had a program that refused to even start and wasn't even close to being fixed. So I just took the bus n' went to Media Union. But I didn't particularly feel too bad for myself sinc as much as I should e I thought I had a fun week overall.. (right--;;)

Got my program to work around 5. still had to do bunch of input validation stuff but didn't feel like typing anything at all;;
Came back to central, met up with Susan n' sohee n' had dinner at Totoro:) We were planning to go to Necto later on at night since weeks ago, so I thought I'd take a nap before so I wouldn't be too tired later.

Sohee called around 10 n' woke me up.
"Hey, we just ordered pizza, wanna come down?"
"... didn't we just eat two hours ago..--;?"
"Yea, but we ordered anyway. come down!"
*hangs up*

Since I figured it'd be less pathetic to be with my friends(--;), I just headed down. There were smilies and "you are almost there" signs on the floor on the way, but since I woke up just then, nothing clicked in my mind until I was in front of the lounge n' heard "she's coming!!"
It was a surprise party:)!!!
The lounge was all decorated in pretty balloons and candles, n' everyone from church was there:)!
Man, did I feel loved n' happy *

(In fact, if I didn't wake up 5 minutes before, I certainly would have^^)
I don't think I'll ever forget that sight..*^^*

Since not so many ppl who were there wanted to go clubbing, I changed plan and we all went bowling together afterwards:)!
It was so much fun^0^!

Smiles,
dances,
laughs,
and one happiest face in the middle:)

<lj-cut text = "The rest of the spring break (Monday~Friday)">
==============================================================================
*Sunday
Went to Boyne Highlands with my church friends:)! There were 14 of us in total.
We left right after the morning service, and got there around 4. Found out we couldn't ski that day cuz they didn't have night skiing and daytime skiing was about to end in half an hour:(!
So we just checked into the condo, which was a really nice and cozy one with two floors and a fireplace(^^!), and had dinner. It was the best dinner we all had in awhile:)! Then we sat around, got our Secret Angels (* You pick a name and without making it obvious, be the angel for the person for the rest of the trip.), played king-game n' then, naturally(;;), truth or dare, except no dares were allowed--; The king game that day was the "funnest" I ever played! We came up with craziest penalties ever n' took bunch of pictures and videos we'll all watch together later:)
Truth or dare, thankfully, didn't make anyone sweatdroppy at all^^ The questions were pretty polite yet not boring:) Then, ppl went out to do sleigh-rides, snowfights, n' other "snow related activities"; It's been a long time since snow looked so friendly..;; But while snowfighting, I broke one of my friends' glasses, so I had to call it a day at that^^;; we just came in early and chatted until we fell asleep.

*Monday
Got up, got ready, had breakfast, and skiied the whole~ day!
It was snowing heavily that day.. It was pretty tough going through all that snow, but the ground was perfect for skiing! It was so much fun, and to my biggest surprise, my body didn't ache at all afterwards. Left around 5, n' with some trouble finding a couple of friends that left 4 hours earlier and was found to b lost on the high way for all that time(;;;), got back around 1^^
It was such a fun trip and a great beginning of the spring break:)!

*Tuesday
Got up late, ate, went back to sleep, and when I woke up again, it was 5 pm; went out for dinner with Susan n' sohee, chatted till Wednesday morning. I was tired, but still I wasn't in any pain at all ^^v

*Wednesday
Got up all rejuvenated, went to borders in the morning, then went to the Main street with Sohee. It's the downtown area of Ann Arbor, but I only went there a few times, always by car. I've always wanted to walk around the street n' check out the stores when I'm stress free and the weather's friendly, n' this was the perfect day! They had so many interesting stores and art gallaries there:)! When we checked out almost every single stores there and were getting bored, some other friends called us, so we went to starbucks to grab a coffee n' talk^-^ More friends joined later, n' we all went to Mongolian BBQ for dinner! I remember that place being so much more fun the last time I went there, but the food seemed much better than last time:)

*Thursday
Wuz supposed to go to Chicago early in the morning, but couldn't wake up until they called. I managed to grab the phone n' say only one sentence.
<i>"I'm not going today, have fun, n' call me when u get back. zzzzzzz" </i>
Got up in the afternoon n' Susan called. We ended up going to the Main street again! Got a summer edition Kipling bag(can't wait till the weather gets better!), a scented candle, n' a cute top to wear on my birthday:)! We got together with an oppa for dinner later and went to watch a movie. We watched "Along came Polly", n' not too surprisingly, we were the only ppl, along with another guy, in the theatre^^; It's been out for a long~ time, i kno^^ It was a cute movie tho:)! Didn't seem to have much point, but it was all good cuz i could just sit back and laugh without thinking too much. I already had a lot to think about that day;

*Friday
Finally started studying. See.. I thought I would catch up with everything I fell behind in my classes.. but nope, nope--; Instead I caught up with all the smiles and laughs (n' sleep) I missed last two months, so it's all good:)
So yea^^ went to Starbucks with Susan n' stayed there doing our homeworks until late. Had dinner, came back, and studied more in the lounge:) So proud of myself now.. lol.
</lj-cut>

==============================================================================
So spring break's now over, and I'm having a really hard time getting back to school-life cycle...^^;
I've been going to bed around 4~5 and waking up no earlier than 12 for a week, so the readjustment is gonna be pretty tough, it seems..:(
But it was such a fun week that I won't regret upon!

It's okay cuz I turned 20 before most of u =P~
Actually, ALL of you except Jun and Camilla:)!

(Haha.. just kidding^^ Not mad at u guys^^;)

Hehe^^ neways, it's weird saying I'm 20 now..^^;
Although it's just a number, it seems like there's so much more to it, u kno..?
A little bit similar to turning 10 from 9 if anyone else still remember that^^;;
Seems like it's beginning of everything all over again^^
Not bad, huh^^?

Quick update Feb. 19th, 2004 @ 11:11 am
I'm supposed to be doing the app for becoming Peer advisor right now, but while "taking a break", I ended up looking over some of my past entries, n'... why do they all remind me so much of "Hi, I'm Dory"--;?
Some friend here told me once that when he watched Finding Nemo for the first time, he thought of me whenever Dory showed up--;.. for some reason I still don't kno, cuz I'm not natural blue, but I kinda understand him now^^;

Newayz.. bullet points! ..inspired by Julia;)

[Negatives]

* UROP(Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program) PA app due this Friday. Not done yet;
* Found out that I can't apply to EGL (er.. Engineering Global Leadership.. I think;) cuz I'm missing 0.15 points in cumulative GPA.. ugh.
* Got class up in North in 30 mins, and I'm writing this instead of getting ready.
* I miss my family. More than ever these days.
* I miss u guys:(!

[Positives]

* Done with my exams!
* Done with exams!
* Exams gone!
* Er, yea, moving on.. Went to Karaoke yesterday n' screamed all the stress off^^
* Got bunch of pictures of my baby niece yesterday. So cute:)!
* A copy of Tears of My Soul arrived! First edition:) (I don't think there are any other editions, actually^^;; but yea. It's out of print now^^)
* Spring break starting this Sat!
* Going Skiing this Sunday:)~ (Went last week for the first time in 5 years, and twuz so much fun^-^!)

Love and miss you all!! Feb. 13th, 2004 @ 08:15 pm

Engineering week! Feb. 6th, 2004 @ 11:58 am
So supposedly, it's an E-week.
I don't know what exactly it's for cuz my school isn't really doing anything about it, but I got one of those geeky e-cards from IIE (Institute of Industrial Engineers).
I copied some of them below.. enjoy;)

What is your life rated?

Don't get it..;
Exactly what part of my life requires parental guide for children-.-;?

Some guy: Do you kno how much snow we're getting today?
Bus driver: I don't know, prolly like 12 inches to a foot..
The guy: But.. 12 inches is a foot...--;
-----------------------------------------------------------------

So yea..the point is--;, that it's snowing A LOT today.
Luckily...(or not) it's Tuesday, which means I'm stuck in North campus, mostly in CAEN lab, doing my programming!
Oh well. Being stuck in the lab whole afternoon isn't good, but programming part isn't too bad so far:)
(I might take this back by the end of the day..)
At least this class is much more fun than Engin 101 :)

On the other note, Sinaboro (The traditional Korean drumming group I'm in) had a concert on Sunday:)
Although my whole body still aches, it was a blaaaaaaaaaaaaast!!
It's been such a long time since I last performed at something.. n' I'd forgotten how awsome it was, but this concert brought it all back^^!
Especially since this was all about Korean culture, it was really a new experience:)
Pictures will be updated on my Cyworld or MSN comm. soon^^

Ok, so that's that. Back to HW now;;

Have a nice day, ppl :)!
